7/14/2023 0 Comments Best log flume ride![]() I highly recommend this ride to anyone who likes log flumes. During the drop you get your picture taken and you get pretty wet at the bottom. You then approach the steep, massive drop. Then your log makes its way up the long lift hill followed by a U-turn. Next, you wind through the woods going through rapids, which get you wet. You get wet at the bottom of the drop, and I love how you then go into the cave. The first lift hill is right out of the station and there is a quick, nimble drop afterwards. Boarding brown logs in a station built by the trees cut down to fit the ride in, my favorite seat was the front because of the good view. Single riders and groups of two can move near the front of the line halfway through the wait. The line moves swiftly and usually has a wait less than 15 minutes. While waiting for the ride, you can only see the major drop and both the lift hills. Located at the back of the park, the Flume has an excellent setting in the woods surrounded by many trees concealing the layout. At one point the ride was only open on weekends and sometimes it was down for an extended period of weeks or months without explanation.Knoebels Flume is the second best log flume I have been on, behind Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom. There was a major inconsistency to when guests could experience the log flume which aided to a lesser desire to visit Buffalo Bill’s. Electronic guns falling in the water or being stolen by guests were a problem that partly contributed to the interactivity being eliminated for good.īuffalo Bill’s other problem was closing down the log ride with little to no notice, sometimes for long periods. At some point, over a decade ago, the shooting element was eliminated despite the electronic targets still being plastered everywhere. And some of them there outlaws would shoot back.Īs the years went by, the ride started to show its age. Some of the things gun-slingers would shoot at included graves, miners, desperados, and outlaws. The flume rounded a corner where it became a “floating shooting gallery” type experience as it entered the casino for several minutes of Old West scenes and shooting fun. One thing that made Buffalo Bill’s unique as a casino was its themed rides, including the Adventure Canyon Log Flume and the Desperado roller coaster, the tallest in the United States in the 1990s.
